When you think of art, whats the first thing that comes to mind? Music? Sculptures? Paint? Colors? Landscapes? Or maybe you like black and white pencil drawings like me. Well, art is all the above. There is no right, there is no wrong. Art comes in many forms and convey many meanings. Like snowflakes, no 2 pieces of art are the same.
I have recently gained a strong appreciation for black and white pencil drawings. I started my journey of drawing by researching or looking at B&W pencil drawings. I love how simple they are, yet how much depth they can have. After looking at many sketches, I wondered if any of them were drawn from a colored picture. I decided one day to start doodling after a long time of no drawing, and it turned out to be pretty good. All of my drawings are drawn by freehand, looking at a 4"x4" picture, drawn to scale. I started using regular 8"x11" printer paper, nothing special, and a #2 mechanical pencil. I was lucky enough to have caught the attention of a coworker, who gave me some better sketch paper they were no longer using. After getting the heavier paper, I decided to purchase some graphite pencils and other supplies.
I hope my work inspires others to do what makes them happy. Whether it's doodling, singing, cooking or cleaning, do what makes you happy. Don't let others judgements bring you down or keep you from anything.
